About the role
We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to be accountable for the management and delivery of the construction of a designated section of works on the M7/M12 Integration Project. This project involves delivery of a new M7/M12 Interchange, M7 Widening and Elizabeth Drive Upgrade. You’ll get the chance to shape Sydney’s west, easing congestion and creating a new link to the future Western Sydney Airport.

Day-to-day, you will:
Adopt and embrace Transurban Project Delivery and Risk – Active Client delivery approach and culture
Assist and lead the project team in the administering of the Project Deed and D&C Contract, liaising regularly with the Safety, Completions, Traffic, Environmental and Comms Teams within the TU delivery Team.
Provide timely and accurate status updates to the Area Manager on the D&C Contractor performance - planned works, in field delivery and identifying risks (i.e. NCRs) and opportunities in advance of the works being executed and any changes that arise during execution
Lead and effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships (including the Transport for NSW, Authorities, Councils, etc)
Assist and lead the D&C Contractor by facilitating and resolving issues in a timely manner including liaison with the Independent Certifier
Aim to influence the D&C Contractor where possible to achieve best for project outcomes for program, cost, quality, design and operations
Closely monitor the D&C Contractor program and execution of works on a daily basis to ensure the D&C Contractor is delivering in a timely and efficient manner.
Spend a large proportion of their time on Site where the works are being delivered. We will be seen as an informed and collaborative Client working with the D&C Contractor in resolving issues and management of stakeholders as required.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Proven experience and leadership at a Senior Project Engineer level of a large and complex construction or engineering project from project initiation to delivery and handover to the client.
Possession of a tertiary qualification, preferably in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution or other extensive background and skills deemed suitable to the position.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a D&C Subcontractor/ Contractor including understanding of Motorway functions from an owner’s perspective.
Experience in and understanding of the proper administration of construction and/or civil engineering contracts including legal principles applicable to such contracts.
Ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships and ensure the delivery of a consistent, efficient and high-quality service.
Use appropriate interpersonal style and techniques, adapting behaviour to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals involved to gain acceptance of ideas or plans.
Ability to lead, build and sustain a project team, relationships, resolve conflict, handle negotiation effectively and develop collaborative working relationships in an environment where there is a conflict of priorities or use of resources.
Ability to negotiate contracts and consultant service agreements. Experience in and understanding of the proper administration of construction and / or civil engineering contracts including legal principles applicable to such contracts would be considered an advantage.
