Due to company growth, we have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Commercial Projects team at Kurnell.  Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role is ideally suited to an individual who has the experience, passion and discipline to drive and deliver projects, on budget, on time and importantly with total transparency along the way. You will also be leading and mentoring a small team, including Project Managers and Drafter.

Your key responsibilities will include

Commercial Projects

  • Review of construction contracts
  • Develop and implement detailed plans and procedures for execution of assigned projects
  • Prepare, monitor and control the schedule, budget and quality of projects
  • Manage the monitoring of quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check working drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Carry out site inspections
  • Liaise with customers, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and planning authorities as appropriate.

Sub-Contractors / Suppliers

  • Sourcing, negotiating and; purchasing materials in line with project schedule
  • Coordinating, selecting and resourcing sub-contractors and generate contracts
  • Manage delivery, quality and quantity of supplies
  • Supervise fabrication, procurement, installation and construction work and ensure efficient standards of workmanship and work schedules are maintained

Consultation and Reporting

  • Provide progress reports to the client
  • Respond to all stakeholders in a professional, collaborative and consultative manner
  • Ensure all activities comply to WHS&E legislation and best practice
  • Review/ revise or develop scope of works for all work activities

Skills/Qualifications/Competencies

  • 5 -10 years’ experience in the Construction Industry.
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar
  • Outstanding written and technical skills including an understanding of construction contracts
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for projects and activities
  • Proven client management, liaison and customer service skills
  • System oriented person with advanced computer skills
  • Leadership capability to maintain site/company discipline and make executive decisions
  • Ability to read and create drawings, reports, engineering documents and specifications
  • Administrative capability to manage Quality, WHS&E and company documentation
  • Administrative capability to manage cost control, pricing and scheduling
