What does the business unit do?
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
Technology Solutions is delivering the Data and Digital Reform Agenda, which focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.
Technology Services explores and employs technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and overseas the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.

The Senior Project Managers priority will be the Case Management System (Hybrid Agile), reporting to the Program Director.
What will the role do?
The role of a Senior Project Manager will manage and lead the delivery of major projects and initiatives in relation to time, cost, scope, quality and will ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects.
The position will define the project's plans, and effectively manage and lead the project team, resources, stakeholders, and suppliers.
The role will be responsible for managing a range of projects and initiatives over their full lifecycle, within the Department's Project Management Excellence (PME) framework and the Government's procurement environment.
Some of your duties will include:
* Manage and lead the delivery of major projects and initiatives in relation to time, cost, scope and quality. This may include major business case development, undertaking strategic assessments, managing organisational change, and implementing ICT solutions.
* Establish effective stakeholder relationships and communication channels, using informal and formal methods of communication, including the preparation of complex reports, briefings and presentations to influence senior stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
* Manages, actions and reports on the progress of projects, using appropriate quality assurance processes to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with agreed standards, methods and procedures, including the management of complex procurement activities in accordance with departmental requirements.

What skills and knowledge should a Senior Project Manager have?
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
* Demonstrated project management experience relevant to the deliverables and qualifications of this role, having successfully managed similar technology projects using formal project management methodologies in an environment of strong project governance.
* Commercial acumen to negotiate effectively to establish low risk, value for money commercial contracts that meet the specified requirements. Proven experience in successfully working with and managing specialist service providers in a commercial setting.
* Experience in applying structured project management methods, with a preference for PRINCE2 (Waterfall) and Agile.
* Knowledge of ICT technologies and information system elements (hardware, software, network & communications) and their application to business functions and processes.
* Significant Senior Project management experience using formal project management methodologies.
* Project management qualifications, such as PRINCE2 certification or equivalent experience, are desirable.
