Senior Project Manager- Maritime

Our client, a global market leader with world leading products, services, and solutions from military defence in all domains to civil security are looking for a Senior Project Manager (Maritime) to join their team in Mawson Lakes, SA. The Senior Project Manager will provide leadership of a project involving multiple stakeholders. This includes the day-to-day management of the assigned Project Management Team and interaction with other groups within the business and the end customer.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the outcome of the project, including cost, schedule, scope, quality, customer satisfaction and any other project objectives as defined in the Contract/Project Directive. The focus of this role will be to manage the delivery and execution of EPA assigned tasks for either the Hunter or Hobart Class Ships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Definition, management, and ownership of the scope of work, including schedule, cost, and quality outcomes for the project.
• Provide leadership, direction, and delegation to the Project Management Team, as required.
• Development of the project approach to achieve project and corporate outcomes as per Contract/Project Directive, including identification of opportunity to maximise outcomes.
• Prepare, monitor, and revise project plans, estimates, cost accounts and schedules for the project to meet the objectives set by the Contract/Project Directive.
• Assess risk related to the project.
• Lead and present status at Steering Committee Meetings, Gate Reviews, Customer Reviews and Progress Meetings.
• Manage contract variations and scope change.
• Develop and maintain knowledge on the use of the solution.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
• Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes, and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the management system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years' experience in a project leadership role, preferably Naval or Defence projects.
• Sound understanding of best practice Project Management.
• Experience in the project management and leadership of systems projects.
• Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of system development projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff within a team environment and to foster cooperation within and between teams.
• Demonstrated understanding of planning, scheduling, and Earned Value Management Techniques.
• Proven ability in internal and external customer liaison.
• Experience in producing and reviewing project documentation.
• Demonstrated scheduling and planning skills.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
• Well-developed ability to work with others in a team environment.
• Well-developed ability to provide leadership.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering or in a business discipline.
• Post-Graduate Qualifications in Project Management (Desirable).
• Project Management Certification through AIPM or other equivalent institution (Desirable).

Company Requirements:

• Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 (Desirable).
• Ability to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 (Mandatory).
