About the role
As part of our client's - a major minerals producer, Water & Closure Planning Team, the Water Planner will focus on projects associated with their mining operations and resource development.
This represents an exciting opportunity to drive and deliver key technical understanding within the department: and is a highly visible and influential role with a focus on improving asset productivity, social value and positioning the company for the future. The team supports the mining (open pit and underground), concentrators, smelting and refining operations, as well as studies and projects.
Key accountabilities include:

• Support mining operations to integrate dewatering into 2 year, 3 month and 2 week plans
• Develop Operational Water Plans (OWP)
• Support project hydrogeological drilling programs
• Maintain operational water balances, review, and improve
• Provide support to Water Engineering SMEs on surface water management and phased improvement planning
• Coordinate Catchment risk management
• Engage and interface with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including operations, projects, engineering, geoscience, mine planning, environment and closure SMEs (internal) and regulators and native title representatives (external)
• Drive a strong safety culture, empower our people, pursue operating perfection and serve our customers

What Qualifications Do I Require?

• Bachelor Degree in Hydrology
• Mining Hydrogeology experience including operational experience
• Demonstrated technical experience in mine water management and execution of hydrogeological studies (including drilling)
• Experience in supporting projects through study phases
• Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to produce quality, concise reports and presentations;
