About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Manufacturing and Support team.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
As the Senior Quality Engineer you will be working as part of a team providing support and guidance to the delivery of a broad range of planned quality activities designed to provide assurance to management that quality practices are being effectively deployed across the project and line of business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understand regulations, licenses and standards of practice, engage with stakeholders and perform compliance testing and monitoring and business process monitoring of the adherence to regulatory, license and standard requirements.
- Recommend, communicate and provide reporting of compliance and initiate remedial actions
- Coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members.
- Reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit
- Engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes
- Support understanding and awareness of quality tools and techniques across the business area
- Support regular liaison with Customer and Partner Company Quality representatives to provide required assurance
- Support understanding and awareness of quality policies, processes and frameworks across the business area, including creation of appropriate communications, training and support information
- Support awareness that robust and effective Quality Control processes / authorities must be in place in the business area
- Support the timely and effective completion of quality audits
- Support the monitoring and completion of corrective, preventive and/or improvement actions
- Support successful audits / assessments by third party representatives, including scheduling interviews
- Support the business area in establishing root cause of non-conformance. Provides Value Added Metrics on the status of NCRs
About YOU
- Lead Auditor qualifications and experience in Manufacturing environment
- Qualification in a Mechanical/Electrical discipline or similar related experience
- Ability to interpret specifications and engineering drawings, including geometry tolerances
- Ability to interact effectively with peers within and outside the immediate team, to implement business improvement requirements
- Sound understanding of Quality practices and continuous improvement
- Familiarity with Aerospace Standard - AS9100 Quality Management Systems Requirements preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Internal Auditing, Root Cause Analysis and NCR procedures
- NV1 clearance required
