The Role
The Communications Electronic Attack group is seeking an experienced RF Electronic Warfare specialist to support capability development and risk reduction activities for Defence communications Electronic Warfare (EW) projects and support the communications countermeasure development and validation (CMD&V) cycle.
The specialist will provide RF system development of communications EW capability and the development and test support services required to deliver Land CMD&V outcomes.
The primary tasks of the successful applicant include:
- Innovatively apply RF engineering knowledge to solve RFEW problems.
- Develop RF tools, concept demonstrators, and test apparatus to support Defence projects and CMD&V.
- Support the preparation of electronic devices under test (DUT) in readiness for characterisation and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) performance testing.
- Conduct automated testing to represent a variety of RF based point-to-point and networked DUT test scenarios.
- Undertake electronic DUT characterisation and HWIL/over-the-air RF test measurements; including the extraction and conversion of automatically-generated test data.
- Formally document and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Support Comms EA Group members undertaking RF EW R&D.
About our Team
Spectrum Warfare is a Major Science & Technology Capability (MSTC) within Information Science Division.
Spectrum Warfare MSTC's mission is to develop survivable tactical communications and Electronic Warfare solutions for contested and degraded cyber electromagnetic environments.
Communications Electronic Attack (Comms EA) Group within MSTC researches, develops, verifies, and facilitates the transition of advanced wireless communications Electronic Warfare techniques to Australian Defence and National Security operational capability. The group maintains scientific leadership in Communications Electronic Attack and Electronic Support related disciplines through long-term research, support to operations, capability development, and provision of expert advice. We exploit wireless communications standards and technologies to develop capabilities for communications electronic attack and employ machine-learning methods to achieve automation and cognitive CEA systems.
