The successful candidate will play a major role in the instigation, management, and operation of research activities in the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Emergency Department (ED). The incumbent will contribute to research capacity development of ED staff and students, and to research management and administrative activities, including those of service and engagement for both the university and the hospital. Independent research by the incumbent will be encouraged.Key responsibilities will include:Research and Researcher Development: Foster a strong and productive program of research in the ED that is consistent with the strategic priorities of the PAH.Support ED Staff across all disciplines to increase their capacity to undertake research.Research: Maintain quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing in appropriate refereed publications, and conference publication.Participate in seeking, obtaining, and managing research funding.Supervision: Lead the facilitation of engagement opportunities for supervisees.Supervise; along with ED staff, undergraduate and medical students, undertaking projects.Act as Principal Supervisor to Higher Degree by Research students.Citizenship and Service: Foster the departments relations with universities, industry government departments, professional bodies, and the wider community.This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ's Criteria for Academic Performance.This is a fixed-term position through to January 2025 at Academic Level C. This opportunity is available for applicants considering either full-time or part-time (minimum 60%) working arrangements.The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201 - $152,202, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676 - $178,076 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases - at least once a year.Please note the successful candidate's appointment may be progressed as a Conjoint/Secondment through Queensland Health.The greater benefits of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a Group of Eight university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including flexible start/finish times.About YouCompletion of a PhD in health or life sciences and an established profile in research in the discipline area.National recognition in the area of expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences.A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
