About This Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Technician to provide technical support to the Mass Spectrometry Facility (MSF) at the Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR). This position facilitates the development, evaluation and implementation of research projects using mass spectrometry. This is a highly specialised position that requires the incumbent to follow laboratory procedures to implement a workflow whilst relying on exceptional troubleshooting skills when issues arise.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide analytical services to clients and collaborators, including performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of analytes by LCMS-MS.
Undertake method development and method validation for mass spectrometry and sample preparation.
Ensures a high standard of research housekeeping, waste disposal, sample storage and chemical/specimen/sample inventory management
Ensures compliance with approved ethics protocols and ISO/IEC 17025 NATA accreditation compliance.
This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through until December 2025. At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $84,871.95 - $91,158.90, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $99,300.18 - $106,655.91 annually.
About You
Masters or higher in the field of analytical chemistry, biochemistry or similar with subsequent relevant experience (minimum of 3-4 years).
Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of specialist and general research techniques, including sample preparation techniques for mass spectrometry workflows.
Significant experience of working in research using mass spectrometry workflows.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in relevant data processing software.
Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and routine maintenance of instruments, data and database management.
Acknowledgment and/or experience of technical quality systems (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025) administrated by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
Experience using PPMS software or equivalent core facility management software.
