Job description

Princess Alexandra Hospital, Social Work Department are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their team. The purpose of this role is to deliver Senior Social work services within the Internal Medicine Unit, including high-quality clinical services, service development, quality improvement, and clinical education. Additionally, the role involves monitoring work practices, initiating quality and research initiatives, and providing supervision and training to less experienced clinicians, students, and Allied Health Assistants.

About the Role

  • Manage an allocated workload to deliver social work services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards and under clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff.
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary team meetings including clinical case conferences and departmental meetings.
  • Continually develop clinical practice knowledge, skills and expertise through self-directed learning, active learning within a team environment and engaging in professional development activities, including participating in the performance appraisal and development plans.
  • Provide education, direction and supervision for routine tasks to less experienced staff, students and support staff, with the support of senior clinical staff. Where appropriate, act as primary supervisor for student training.
