Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is the principal tertiary referral hospital for the Northern Sydney Local Health District. It is a Major Trauma Centre that provides specialised care in the Intensive Care Unit, Severe Burns Unit, Spinal Cord Injury and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
This is a permanent part time Crisis Response Weekend social work position: Availability over the whole weekend is preferable however a Job Share will be considered.

What you'll be doing
The RNSH Senior Crisis ResponseSocial Worker is required to provide a clinical response to critical illness, -trauma / resus, -end of life care, -prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect (PARVAN) concerns for children, young people, women, families (i.e. child protection, domestic and family violence), -victims of crime, -concerns relating to elder abuse/carer concern -pediatrics presentations (i.e. sudden and unexpected death of infants, youth health concerns, emotional/psychosocial wellbeing concerns), -pregnancy loss, -housing & homelessness, discharge planning, and other responses as required.
This will include the provision of senior practitioner level bio-psychosocial assessment, counselling, information and advocacy to consumers, carers and families in a consumer centred framework, and liaison with other relevant professionals (Health and external agencies). The Social Work Senior Clinician will utilise independent professional judgment to ensure patient care is delivered within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based, best practice knowledge and practice.

- A Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Evidence of extensive clinical experience, inclusive of experience as a Level 2 Social Work or equivalent.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, counselling and therapeutic interventions, complex clinical casework/case management, advocacy and discharge planning.
- Demonstrated expertise/knowledge, clinical skills and experience in critical illness, trauma / resus / sudden death, PARVAN – child protection, domestic and family violence, youth health issues, victims of crime.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as a collaborative member of multiple interdisciplinary teams in a complex / pressured environment with competing demands.
- Demonstrated experience in the ability to initiate, lead, contribute and implement research projects, quality and education activities, within social work services.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision of Social Workers and social work students.
- Demonstrated well developed skills in written and verbal communication, computer literacy & time management.
