Position: Senior Youth Worker - Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care (ITTC)

The Role:
As a Senior Youth Worker in Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care (ITC), you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality services, care, and support to promote the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of vulnerable children and young people. Working within a trauma-informed therapeutic framework, you'll provide supervision, support, and development for Youth Workers. Collaborating closely with other team members, you'll help young people heal from trauma and achieve their full potential.
Position Details:
- Classification: SCHCADS Level 4 ($41.52 - $44.68 ph) – dependent on qualifications & experience
- Employment Type: Permanent Full-time, Part-time, and Casual opportunities available
- Hours: Morning, Day, Afternoon, Evenings, Sleepovers and Active nights
- Location: Royalla, ACT
- Reporting to: House Supervisor
About You:
To excel in this position, we seek individuals who demonstrate:
- Previous experience nurturing and supporting vulnerable children and young people, especially in trauma settings.
- A strong drive, enthusiasm, and resilience to engage with young people.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, making quick decisions and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including morning, afternoon, sleepover, active nights, weekends and public holidays ensuring continuous support and care.
- A positive and approachable demeanor, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with young people, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Dedication to offering alternatives to long-term residential care, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children and young people.
- A commitment to enhancing safety measures and providing pathways to less intensive services and permanency for those in need.
- A proactive approach to offering diverse placement options that cater to the mental, physical, and educational needs of children and young people.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts including sleepovers and active nights
- Experience and understanding of workplace health and safety (WH&S) issues
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook and Word.
Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, you must possess:
- Diploma qualification in relevant industry preferred
- Valid and current Driver's License
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop)
- Valid Employee Working with Vulnerable People Check
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application)
