Your Role:
- Based in Metropolitan North Regional Office (Nundah and North Lakes), this role is to support learning and engagement of young people in their educational pathway to ensure they reaching their full potential and maximise their learning in alignment with the Equity and Excellence strategy. Building partnerships to refer and work collaboratively with external agencies to support the student, their families and their school community are a key component of this role.
- Respond to the needs of the identified young people and families to assist with re-engagement plans.
- Build resilience through facilitation of referrals to other allied health professionals, and service and care coordination for the purpose of assisting young persons and their family's wellbeing and mental health.
- Provide professional mental health and social welfare assessment and interventions and follow up support of the identified young people and families as required.
- Provide leadership within a multi-disciplinary team in a regional setting, providing support to schools' community and inter agency networks relevant to the needs of the young people.
- Support school communities to manage the ongoing support disengaged identified young people.
- Prepare and present papers and reports relating to the role to school and regional leadership team on the progress and outcomes of student engagement.
Our ideal applicant:
- Possession of tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- You will be accredited as a Mental Health Social Worker.
- Experience providing therapeutic support and intervention to young people with complex presentations
- Experience leading, or capacity to lead, a systemic approach
