This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior Level 3 Social Worker to join the Social Work Department at The Sutherland Hospital.
This permanent Part Time (23hpw) role is a newly created position. You will be working as part of the Social Work Department at Sutherland Hospital, and specifically in Palliative Care.
As part of this role you will be providing intervention to community members accessing our outpatient Supportive Care Clinic for individuals with life-limiting illness, and bereavement counselling to the loved ones following a death at Sutherland Hospital.
This new Level 3 Social Work position will be an integral member of our Social Work team and, in addition to servicing Palliative Care patients and their families, will be responsible for the supervision and upskilling clinicians in the provision of End of Life care at Sutherland Hospital.
All positions at Sutherland Hospital have opportunity to work across clinical areas as required. Participation to the Afterhours roster and weekend work is a requirement of the role.
What you'll be doingPlan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Social Work in order to provide high quality Social Work care to patients of the The Sutherland Hospital accessing care for Palliative Care and End of Life Care consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection criterea
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Palliative Care and grief and bereavement intervention
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to others in providing service excellence
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes
- Demonstrated experience in providing crisis interventions and the ability to participate in the TSH After Hours Crisis On-Call Social Work Service and work across a seven day roster when required
- Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position
