Established in 2006 as a non-profit in Queensland, we've cared for over 2000 young people. Our philosophy revolves around providing care, support, affection, and hope to young people in our community. We're expanding rapidly and seeking talented team members who share our values and wish to join our community for mutual success.

  • Rewards and recognition system that appreciates and celebrates your achievements.
  • Access to discounts and cashbacks at hundreds of retailers across Australia.
  • 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
  • Generous salary packaging to increase your take-home pay.

  • 24/7 access to Employee Assistance Program.

Investing in your success:

  • Fully funded Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention in Residential Care.
  • Scholarships that pay for a qualification of your choice.
  • Leadership Academy with pathways to help you grow and develop as a leader.
  • Opportunities to progress into senior roles.

About the Role

We are looking for passionate Senior Youth Workers to work directly with young people who are vulnerable and in need of assistance.

You will be the person in their lives to help them build life skills, healthy attachments, and most importantly be there for them when they need you the most. You will work through tough times and challenges together, knowing that the ultimate outcome is guiding them to live a fulfilled and independent life. Advocating for a young person’s sense of belonging while encouraging their independence is a deeply rewarding career path.

Travel around the Central Coast region will be essential for this role.

This role is for full-time employment and requires availability across 7 days. We operate a roster of 5 x 24-hour shifts per fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building a strong connection and trust with young people, acting as a role model with residential house duties.
  • Navigate through their personal challenges, providing both emotional & professional support in collaboration with the team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and other relevant community services.
  • Help engage in post-crisis support functions to better support young people with complex needs and behaviours.

Due to the trauma sensitive nature of work, we require our inductee Youth Workers to successfully complete the Induction Program before they can be assigned to a young person.  As such, employment offers are made on a casual basis and following the successful completion of the Induction Program, permanent, full-time offers are made. Candidates will need to be available to attend the Induction Program which takes approximately 3 weeks.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated ability to openly engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Implement strategies and tactics to mentor and teach our youth necessary life skills.
  • Maintain a strong will and resilience to bounce back from tough situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
  • Hold and maintain a full Australian Driver's License
  • Working with Children Check
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent or be willing to undertake relevant training provided by Safe Places.
  • Applicants must be eligible to live and work in Australia.

We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates and take pride in being an inclusive employer.

Working at Safe Places

In the heart of Safe Places, a blend of Unity, Support, Responsiveness, Passion, and Professionalism is what defines us. When you become part of our team, you’re part of a community that prioritises integrity and professionalism and celebrates diversity. In all we do, we aim to foster an atmosphere of respect, collaboration, and mutual advancement, dedicated to impacting the lives of vulnerable young Australians.
