Senior Software Engineer

The role
The 9LV Combat Management System (CMS) is currently operational on both the ANZAC and LHD platforms and development is ongoing on a number of other platforms within the Royal Australian Navy and for a range of international customers.
Within this context, the Senior Software Engineer’s main focus will be on the specification, design, development, documentation and testing of software components within a software team responsible for one or more CMS functions.
Further, the successful candidate will:

• Participate in the develop and maintenance of software components and associates simulators
• Develop an understanding of the operational use of the associate system under development
• Produce all artefacts required for deliverables and internal reviews
• Participate in review of software and documentation as required
• Perform integration and testing of software as required
• Participate in the generation of estimates for future software deliveries as required

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:

• Experience in writing software requirements for software components within software intensive systems
• Experience in designing software components using a number of formal design methodologies within software intensive systems
• Experience in implementation and testing of software components using a number of software languages within software intensive systems
• Knowledge about contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices
• Experience with the products, development environment, and the tools used to develop and support software
• Experience in at least one of the following languages: Java and/or ADA

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
