About the role
We are in the market for a Senior Software Engineer / Team Lead to join and lead our in-house Development team. You must have significant experience in low level C++ and Unreal Engine development, and have the personality to architect, guide, and grow our team capabilities as you’ll be responsible for delivering our vision through our technology to meet customer needs.
The role requires knowledge of 3D visual technology, 3D coding, specifically in C++, Unreal Engine 5 experience and proven solution architecture and development.
It will be based in our office located within the CBD on Bourke Street near Parliament Station.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire our team of Software Engineers and developers
- Foster a collaborative team culture focused on knowledge sharing and learning
- Support the team by unblocking challenges with the development initiatives
- Implement and maintain a CI/CD pipeline leveraging best practices
Architecture and Strategy:
- Architect and evolve the code base to increase security and promote best practices
- Ensure that the technology is not deprecated and stays current, leveraging the latest tools and solutions
- Support the development and evolution of the Pixelstream architecture
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver exceptional software
Technical and product:
- Design and deliver robust, quality solutions to budget with minimal errors, high usage and repeat custom of tech services and apps
- Provide accurate quoting of costs, time, and milestones
- Maintain and update several existing projects
- Produce builds and deliver to clients
- Lead the thought process on Unreal developments
Skills and Requirements:
Leadership Experience:
- Previous experience leading and managing Software Engineering teams
- Implemented CI/CD and SDLC processes within organisations that have stuck
- Have driven operational and engineering excellence improvements across teams, setting and maintaining standards for engineering teams
- Strong on producing, following, and championing procedures and documentation
- Mentored developers to grow and increase their production and quality
- Bring passion and work ethic to the table every day and constantly set the example for others
Technical Expertise:
- 8+ years of professional experience in software development
- Deep level of experience with C++
- Deep understanding and experience of Unreal Engine 5.x and Blueprints
- Comfortable working with Git, Perforce, Plastic, Monday.com
- Experience in Web development languages and architecture is desirable
- Good understanding of 3D mathematics and its use in game programming

- Advanced English, and are equally comfortable talking with fellow developers or external stakeholders
- Able to communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real-time
- Champion collaboration cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals
