Senior Strategy Analyst

The Senior Strategy Analyst is a member of the Strategy team within the Student Services and Operations Division and is responsible for working collaboratively to lead the effective delivery of strategic planning, reporting and implementation of strategic processes and projects across the University of Tasmania. The role collaborates with senior leadership to formulate the University long term vision, bringing in external factors influencing strategy, and provides strategy processes and frameworks that enable successful strategy development and implementation.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess a strong aptitude for analyzing complex information and extracting clear insights. They should be adept at building robust and productive relationships with key stakeholders and teams across the Division. The candidate should be able to proactively monitor the external environment, provide insightful analysis and advice, prepare reports, interpret data, and develop presentations. They will be expected to make informed contributions to the delivery of strategic planning, implementation, and project management for University Council, Government, and external stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Support the organisation to operate and think strategically, including driving the institution's strategic planning processes and fostering the development of strategic capability.
- Partner with senior leaders to support the delivery of various strategic projects.
- Synthesise information, identify insights and develop specialised reports, correspondence, recommendations, presentations and advice on highly complex issues for a variety of audiences, including the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Team, University Council and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong external lens on trends in the University sector, national and State higher education issues, the competitive landscape and potential opportunity areas to inform the University's strategy, with a strong commitment to information sharing within the team and across the institution.
- Maintain a strong understanding and connection with the University strategy, including keeping abreast of strategies being designed and managed throughout the University to enable meaningful alignment with the institutional strategy.
- Establish and maintain credibility and trust, ensuring effective stakeholder management to develop and maintain positive relationships and networks within the team, and with academic, professional and key senior staff across the University.
- Extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Experience in a business or Strategy Analyst / management consulting environment with strengths in impact-oriented problem solving, both analytical and conceptual.
- Demonstrated superior expertise and technical skills in researching, interpreting data, drawing out key strategic and analytical insights that help guide strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced high performing team, feeling comfortable with regular shifts in priorities.
- Demonstrated capability in fostering a positive and engaged workplace, inspiring a unified and supportive team culture.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with a broad range of stakeholders and senior managers, and the ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner, maintaining effective relationships to deliver project outcomes.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including persuasive, informed and qualitative reports and communications.
- Proven capacity to deliver outcomes effectively both as a team member and with a high degree of autonomy, including end-to-end ownership of relevant tasks, demonstrating accuracy, initiative, and innovation. Decisions demonstrate strong understanding of strategic relevance, importance, and impact on the University's mission.
- A solution focused approach with capacity to use discretion and initiative, particularly when dealing with matters of a sensitive nature; capacity to exercise sound judgement to complex issues and escalate appropriately in accordance with operating procedures.
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $151,543 comprising base salary within the range of $122,887 to $129,524 plus 17% superannuation.
