Senior Substation Engineer

The Senior Substation Engineer will lead the electrical design of HV substations for renewable energy projects for Tier 1 clients.

Role Description
The Senior Substation Engineer will lead the electrical design of HV substations for renewable energy projects. In this role, you will engage in a diverse range of projects and activities, including:

• Lead the primary, secondary, and protection systems design focusing on HV substations for solar farms, wind farms, and BESS electrical balance of plant.
• Review and develop technical specifications, bill of materials, design reviews for compliance with relevant standards, and lead safety in design and constructability reviews.
• Participate in project development and delivery activities.
• Support the tendering and procurement activities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the delivery teams during construction.
• Collaborate on commissioning and compliance activities, ensuring seamless project execution.
• Manage design and engineering activities to meet project timelines and budgets effectively.

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of experience in substation design and exposure with renewables BoP design projects, with a preference for Australian energy infrastructure experience.
• Strong knowledge of electric power transmission, distribution systems, design standards, and protection/control systems in substations.
• Familiarity with design development, review processes, and testing and commissioning activities for electrical substations.
• Registration with Engineers Australia.
