The Victorian Government has chosen the Suburban Connect consortium, made up of CPB Contractors, ACCIONA, and Ghella, to lead the first major tunnelling work on the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) Connect project.
The project includes building a 16-kilometre section of twin tunnels, digging between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, creating 55 safety passages between the tunnels, setting up station boxes at Clayton and Monash, and constructing entrances and exits (portals) to the tunnels at the stabling facility.

Suburban Connect is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Sustainability Advisor to spearhead the sustainability efforts for the groundbreaking Suburban Rail Loop project. The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead Integration of Sustainability Requirements - the incorporation of sustainability objectives across the Project, ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision and compliance with industry rating tools such as ISC.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Management - balance diverse stakeholder requirements and expectations, with a strong competence in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Process Optimization and Innovation - Utilize industry experience to refine processes and introduce innovative practices that enhance sustainability performance and encourage innovation.
- Lifecycle Project Management - Demonstrated ability to manage sustainability initiatives throughout project lifecycle (planning, design, procurement) and construction phases.
- Risk Management - Assess and manage environmental and sustainability-related risks associated with design and delivery of infrastructure.
- Sustainability Metrics and Reporting - Develop and implement systems for tracking, analysing, and reporting sustainability metrics, providing transparency and accountability for project outcomes. Experience:
- At least six years proven experience in the sustainability sector within the infrastructure industry, demonstrating a track record of increasing responsibility and complexity in project management.
- Leadership qualities - ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and drive the sustainability agenda at a strategic level.
- Well-developed communication skills - ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of subcontractors, local authorities, internal staff and stakeholders.
- Proven track record in working collaboratively to embed sustainability into core business practices and project delivery.
- Strategic thinker - experienced in managing substantial projects from design to delivery, aiding in informed decision-making to enhance the organization's sustainability objectives.
