Androgogic is a leading provider of Educational Technology infrastructure and services, specialising in open source software. We are a growing company and have been the top Totara seller in APAC six of the last seven years.
We work with our clients as partners to design and implement flexible, robust and reliable Learning Management Systems (LMSs) and other educational technology applications such as xAPI, LXPs, TXPs, LCMSs, virtual classrooms, social learning and ePortfolio systems. We also work on our own internal management systems and automation scripting frameworks.

The role
The position specifically involves:
- Monitoring, maintaining and patching the underlying stack for Androgogic's SaaS applications infrastructure
- Automating the installation of operating systems and configuring them to the requirements of particular application servers. This includes researching those requirements for new educational technology or business applications
- Managing backup, business continuity and data integrity functions.
Undertaking all security related tasks required by the policies, processes and tools in place at Androgogic. Keeping a motivated, proactive approach to security improvements - Selecting and purchasing all network and systems related hardware/software including ongoing maintenance of vendor relationships and service contracts
- Liaising with the Software Engineering Team on deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, patching, etc.
- Undertaking tasks and managing projects as directed within the systems and networks sphere arising from client project and strategic business requirements
- Providing systems and networks perspectives on strategic decision making, selection of internal systems, client proposals and other business matters requiring system and networking expertise
- Being a key part of the engineering response team for system, network and other troubleshooting (through to DR if required)
About you
- You enjoy learning and have the ability to take on the responsibility for new products/requirements. You are able to progress a new product through the scoping, R&D, testing, troubleshooting and deployment phases to achieve a solid, reliable outcome
- You have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills including being capable of network troubleshooting, tracing, IP management and monitoring
- You can independently use online forums and other resources to research, troubleshoot and self-teach
- You can identify, assess, prioritise and mitigate security-related risk
- You prefer working autonomously within a managed team
- You have a strong work ethic with the ability to self-motivate, prioritise, be proactive and have good time management
- You enjoy being a product specialist in multiple areas and a “roll up the sleeves” jack of all trades
- You have excellent communication skills
- You prefer working remotely from home
- You must be able to work after hours from time to time for deployments/scheduled outages and be rostered for alert notifications after hours
Your experience
You have 2 or more years of system administration experience (or if less than 2 years experience you must be fantastic)
- You have significant linux/unix command line experience.
- You have prior experience scripting with bash, Go, Python, or other languages
- You have experience with server racking, setup and configuration

- CEPH
- Google Cloud Platform
- Hypervisor host management
- Open source DB management
- Automation tools
- Containerisation and service broking
- Hardware monitoring setup and alert triggers
- Apache and nginx web server administration
- Clustering and load management for LAMP stacks.
- Fault tolerance/High Availability design and deployment.
- Router and switch CLI command line
- VLAN design and deployment
- DR strategy, design and deployment
- High level security expertise
- Network topology design
- BGP and border level routing protocols
Some things to note
- In order to apply for this position, you must either have a current NV1 AGVSA Government Clearance or have the ability to achieve clearance at that level (basically be a trustworthy citizen). You must therefore also hold or be in the process of receiving Australian Citizenship in order to meet this requirement. Please include details of all citizenship(s) you hold with your application
- Successful candidates will need to undergo National Police and Working with Children Checks and may also be required to undertake a Baseline security clearance
