This is a well established and highly reputable Australian owned company specialising in the development, construction and operation of large scale renewable energy generation projects including 4GW of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
With a growing portfolio of in excess of 4GW of projects under development across the eastern seaboard, the need now exists to bring in a highly competent engineer in a senior leadership capacity to compliment the team.
Role overview
As a Senior Technical Solutions HV Engineer, you will be instrumental in the success of solar and BESS projects, focusing on high voltage (HV) aspects from design to commissioning (11/22/33/66kV). You will ensure compliance with industry standards, project-specific requirements, and Australian Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Planning: Develop HV design packages, ensuring alignment with project specifications and integration requirements;
- Compliance and Standards: Adhere to relevant Australian Standards and industry practices for HV systems, ensuring regulatory compliance;
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute engineering strategy, identifying new project opportunities and technological advancements;
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on emerging technologies, offer technical expertise to teams, and ensure the feasibility and sustainability of engineering solutions;
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with colleagues to understand needs and provide effective engineering solutions, while also building and maintaining relationships with external partners, suppliers, and clients;
- Documentation: Manage and produce all required engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and currency throughout project lifecycles;
- Consultant Engagement: Manage consultant relationships and scopes to deliver design, reports, and reviews of engineering and commissioning work streams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, PSCAD, ETAP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills.
- Ability to inspire and lead teams with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience in renewable energy solutions, including 5+ years in PV design & engineering.
- Expertise in generating electrical, civil, geospatial, and mechanical drafting and engineering, with specific experience in new HV grid connections.
- Familiarity with Australian/New Zealand standards for electrical systems and competence in industry-standard power systems and renewable energy software.
