About the Position
The City of Stirling has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Systems Administrator to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. Under the direction of the Technical Infrastructure Lead this position is responsible for the design, configuration and administration of the City’s Server and Security IT infrastructure. This includes most aspects of service design utilising both on-site and offsite infrastructure.
This position requires technical knowledge at a level that can provide both design services and a technical escalation point for complex issues that involve multiple components and teams. The position will include business as usual work, as well as project responsibilities. This position is expected to be able to advise on the approach, design and implementation phases on ICT projects across the City.
Key Responsibilities
The duties of the Senior Technical Systems Administrator will include but are not limited to:
- Design, configuration and maintenance of corporate ICT infrastructure, including: virtualisation, servers, applications, systems and network in line with standards and policy;
- Technical management of ICT Infrastructure, including installation, capacity management, backup, recovery and optimisation to ensure performance;
- Service design, including integration to offsite services such as Microsoft Office 365;
- Administration of a large server fleet including duties such as configuration, maintenance, scripting, software and hardware upgrades;
- Working knowledge of Networking, load balancer and web content filter configuration and management;
- Administration of the information security framework, including contributing to the development and communication of policy and procedures;
- Research and evaluate new and innovative technologies as necessary;
- In consultation with key staff, develop and maintain the ICT risk register including ensuring that ICT risks have appropriate mitigation strategies and controls;
- Coordinate the implementation of technical infrastructure work
About You

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant experience.
- Microsoft Certified MCSE or demonstrated relevant experience
- VMware VCP Certified or demonstrated relevant experience
- Commvault or enterprise backup experience
- Azure, Office 365, Hyperconverged server infrastructure experience
- ITIL Foundation Certification or higher
- Project Management Certification (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation or higher)
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and to collaborate productively with colleagues on work allocation and priorities.
