Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Technician - Physics to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.
This role is responsible for the effective, safe, and sustainable operation of a range of laboratory facilities and equipment, in addition to specialist equipment. The position requires extensive Physics knowledge and experience, with basic Chemistry knowledge and experience to provide high quality technical support to academics and students within the Faculty. Maintaining awareness of current and emerging support requirements, this role will contribute to the continual improvement of technical services supporting the Faculty’s research, learning and teaching, and engagement programs.

What you need to succeed
- Completion of a relevant degree, with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, preferably in a Physics laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret client requirements and develop detailed undergraduate practical laboratory support solutions using a wide range of laboratory skills and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to apply fundamental Physics principles to a variety of educational and/or research applications in the pursuit of academic excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing clear and concise documentation and communicating effectively with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks, critically evaluate systems and processes and work collaboratively to achieve team-based outcomes in a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective health and safety culture.
- Possession of, or ability to acquire certification for the use of radioactive sources such as a current Radiation Safety Officer Certification or User Licence for sealed and unsealed radioactive sources.
