About the role
The role of Senior Blast Technician (Underground) will provide blasting engineering, technical support, and blasting project management for our Customer on the Snowy 2.0 Project.
At Orica, we have the training infrastructure and expertise within the team to train a talented and ambitious engineer in technical blasting, therefore we are inviting applicants with all levels of engineering expertise.
The roster will be 8 Days on and 6 days off and travel, accommodation and meals will be provided on shift.
What you will be doing
- Managing technical blasting projects to deliver value to our customers.
- Working with our customers to prioritise projects whilst utilising our global network of experts to deliver these projects.
- Developing long-term partnerships with Orica's customers.
- Supporting our customers' blasting technical requirements.
- Managing our customers' technical relationships and managing your time to engage and interface with key sites.
- Taking accountability for delivering outstanding results.
- Continually improving your technical expertise in our products and services.
- 5+ years of advanced practical shot firing experience (Senior Blast Technician) OR Degree Qualifications in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Technical Services Engineering).
- Knowledge of the mining drill and blast process is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of either operational or technical aspects of underground mining.
- Experience in working with Orica's i-kon blasting system would be an advantage.
- The ability to work autonomously, with limited direction, and part of a tightly functioning team.
- Commitment to partner with customers and your team, always accountable for your actions.
- A mindset to always look for better ways to deliver value.
- Ability to obtain a national police clearance check.
