Senior Technology Application Manager

Thakral One is seeking a skilled Application Manager with strong experience in project and change management to oversee the introduction and continued improvement of software applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with the capability to lead and mentor technology teams.
It is critical to have extensive business and project management experience to understand the objectives, identify practical solutions and govern the implementation, provide 2nd and 3rd level support and ensure regular maintenance. Whilst being an individual contributor with problem solving skills is an advantage, this role is more concerned about leadership, planning and execution to bring the organisation to the next technology level. The goal is to improve efficiency, reduce risk and increase security whilst following best practice.
The ideal candidate is strategic in their IT planning and have substantial knowledge of a wide range of contemporary applications, tools, products, middleware and databases used in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities1. Application Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of software applications.
- Ensure applications are running smoothly, efficiently, and securely.
- Manage application lifecycle from selection, development to deployment and maintenance.
2. Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to implementation teams.
- Foster a collaborative environment to improve quality and system performance.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
3. Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute application projects.
- Work closely with stakeholders to define project scope, budget, objectives, deliverables and timelines ensuring Non-Functional Requirements are also included.
- Work collaboratively with business representatives and internal / external service providers to ensure services remain aligned to evolving business requirements and costs
4. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
- Support the team to identify, analyse, and resolve application issues.
- Implement effective solutions to mitigate downtime and improve user experience.
5. Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, budgets, risks, and issues effectively.
- Ensure effective planning, management, and execution of changes with documented controls and communications.
- Vendor Management for all 3rd party application providers.
- Plan the annual Project Portfolio (and budgets) with the business stakeholders.
- Maintain the Lifecycle Register and the Technical Debt Register and manage the resolution through the next period’s project portfolio.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is preferred. A PMP or Agile certification is preferred. However, demonstratable experience is of a higher importance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in application management or a related role to manage project portfolios, 2nd Level support and vendor management.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring technology teams.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Experience in IT architecture landscape design and communicating concepts to C-Level management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices and tools.
- Knowledge of database management and data integration.
- Strong ability to deliver and manage direct and indirect services teams
- Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people including senior business and technical stakeholders to make decisions.
