SalaryJob Summary we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Tester with expertise in SQL, BigQuery, DBT, and other automation frameworks to lead our testing efforts for data engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automating test cases, regression test suites, test data preparation, and handling large volumes of testing data. They will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of our data pipelines through comprehensive testing and automation.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test suites for end to end data pipelines, encompassing data ingestion, transformation, and delivery processes.
Collaborate closely with data engineers, data analysts, and software developers to understand requirements and identify testing needs for various data engineering projects.
Develop strategies and tools for test data preparation, including the generation, manipulation, and management of large volumes of testing data to simulate real world scenarios.
Utilize advanced SQL techniques and tools, such as BigQuery, to retrieve, query, and validate data across multiple data sources and environments.
Implement and enhance automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing processes, increase test coverage, and improve testing efficiency.
Lead the execution of test cases, analyze test results, and identify areas for improvement in data quality, performance, and reliability.
Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with development teams to resolve defects in a timely manner.
Document and maintain test artifacts, including test plans, test cases, test data sets, and automation scripts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, share best practices, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the testing team.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data testing, automation, and quality assurance, and apply them to enhance our testing capabilities.
Requirements
Information Technology, or related field advanced degree or certifications preferred.
5 years of experience in a senior level role as an Automation Tester, Quality Assurance Engineer, or similar position, with a focus on testing data pipelines.
Strong proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with database technologies, including BigQuery, SQL Server, Hands on experience with data modeling, ETL ELT processes, and data transformation tools, such as DBT Data Build Tool or Apache Spark.
Demonstrated experience in automating test suites, test data preparation, and managing large volumes of testing data to simulate diverse use cases.
Proficiency in automation frameworks tools, such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, PyTest, or similar, and experience with version control systems and CI CD pipelines.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environment.
Detail oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high quality results, meeting project deadlines, and driving continuous improvement.
