Somersby Animal Hospital is a purpose built, state of the art, independently owned, multi-vet mixed practice. Our practice has been built in a peaceful, semi-rural environment on the Central Coast of NSW; it has a warm, inviting, and relaxing atmosphere.
Our Vet Team has grown so we are now looking for a Full-Time Senior Veterinary Nurse to complement the team.
Location:
We are located in Somersby, NSW. Somersby is a 25-minute drive up the M1 from the Wahroonga exit and 5 minutes from the Gosford Exit.
Our Clinic:
- Has a friendly, highly trained, dedicated, and passionate team, who pride themselves on exceptional customer service.
- Is located in a high growth area with an increasing client base.
- Includes 4 large consultation rooms, a state-of-the-art treatment area with Smartflow, modern spacious surgical suite and a fully equipped lab.
- Patient base includes small animal with the addition of horses, hobby farms, wildlife and local zoos.
As a Veterinary Nurse, your role is to care for animals under treatment and assist our veterinarians to perform procedures and operations.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Holding animals to allow examination and treatment by our veterinarians.
- Cleaning and sterilising examination tables and equipment.
- Preparing instruments and handing them to the Veterinarian.
- Placing catheters and assisting Veterinarians to administer anaesthetics and oxygen during operations.
- Placing animals in cages for recovery from operations and monitoring their condition.
- Calculating doses and giving medications to animals.
- Maintaining stock control and records.
- Providing animal care advice, and preparing, delivering, and reviewing animal care education programs.
- Conducting blood draws and performing diagnostic laboratory tests.
- Acting as receptionist, accepting payments and undertaking clerical work.
Position Requirements:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience and a Cert III Qualification or higher.
- Be flexible, have a positive “can do” attitude and a passion for high quality care.
- Have excellent communication skills and a warm professional manner.
- An interest in wildlife/avian medicine/large animals is ideal.
- Occasional weekend work.
- Good computer skills.

Salary offered for the position: $60,000-$70,000.
