About the Role

A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Specialist position within our Organisational Development team based in our Sydney Office!

On a day-to-day basis our Senior Wellbeing Health and Safety Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of Wellbeing Health and Safety, supporting our Leaders across the business, Employees, People & Culture Business Partners and Advisors, Retail State Managers and Branch Risk Managers.

This role will be accountable for providing specialised WHS support to improve business WHS outcomes. You will act as lead WHS team contact for organisational WHS controls, programs and platforms (as assigned by manager) to liaise with business stakeholders about business needs, uplift WHS team knowledge and practice, and ensure compliance within relevant business requirements and practices (e.g. procurement procedures).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Project manage selected initiatives that meet the WHS needs of the business and improve the experience of our people in collaboration with stakeholders at all levels of the business. Utilise internal resources or as necessary develop business cases that support the use of additional resources.
  • Act as lead WHS team contact for organisational WHS controls, programs and platforms (as assigned by manager) to liaise with business stakeholders about business needs, uplift WHS team knowledge and practice, and ensure compliance with relevant business requirements and practices (e.g. procurement procedures).
  • Drive alignment between systems, processes and people through actively contributing to the successful development and embedment of national safety, wellbeing and injury management programs.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current WHS legislation, emerging industry trends, and business strategy and policy/standards to be in a position to provide relevant advice and support.
  • Provide relevant, timely and accurate advice and operational support directed towards WHS risk reduction, safe execution of work and learning from WHS events within the allocated portfolio of divisions, departments and business units.
  • Build capability amongst leaders, teams and P&C to achieve pragmatic and effective WHS outcomes.
  • Undertake regular discussions, presentations and site visits, as appropriate, to promote and facilitate the implementation and operation of WHS standards, initiatives and programs.
  • Conduct monitoring, reporting and other assurance activities to keep stakeholders informed about the status of WHS compliance and performance.
  • Analyse data produced from consultation, monitoring and reporting processes, and provide informative and timely management information that supports evidence-informed decision making.
  • Encourage others to think creatively and challenge the status quo and facilitate innovative solutions which reflect an understanding of business needs.
  • Work closely with and support other WHS team members and undertake other duties as required to deliver optimal WHS/ IM outcomes.
About you

It is a requirement that you have a minimum of 2 years in a similar role and you will display a sound knowledge of safety legislation and regulatory requirements with experience across both Wellbeing and Work Health and Safety

  • Degree or post-graduate qualification/s in WHS or relevant discipline/s.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to influence stakeholder groups and build credibility.
  • Demonstrated experience empathetically providing coaching, advice and support to the workplace in the areas of WHS and injury management/RTW.
  • Demonstrated experience with data management, analysis and reporting.
  • Internal auditing (e.g. “internal auditing” or “lead auditing”) and incident investigation (e.g. root cause analysis) qualifications or experience.
  • Sound project delivery and effective change management experience.
  • Strong time management skills, including managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communications skills to suit the audience with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation capability.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
