Role Overview:
As the National Health & Safety Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing effective Health and Safety systems and practices within their organisation. Reporting to the Head of P&C Australia, with a dotted line to the Global Health & Safety Manager, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and drive a culture of safety throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and deployment of global Health & Safety policies and systems.
- Support the implementation of the Global H&S Management System at the local level, including the design of strategies, programs, and KPIs.
- Provide leadership and advice on Health & Safety to executive and operational teams.
- Develop and deliver Health & Safety training across all levels of the organisation.
- Coordinate with Business Unit H&S Committees and provide support and advice as needed.
- Manage the review program based on implementation plans and established KPIs.
- Liaise with WorkCover and manage workers' compensation claims from initial claim through to finalisation.
- Continuously review systems, policies, and practices to facilitate continuous improvement in Health and Safety management.
- Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to monitor H&S performance and report against key metrics.
- Significant experience in Health & Safety, including Workers Compensation, preferably in a large company.
- Experience working within the manufacturing or logistics sector is preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a Health and Safety- related endorsement.
- Cert IV Assessment & Training; Rehabilitation & RTW Coordinator (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and codes of practice.
- Proven experience developing, implementing, and managing WHS Management Systems.
