Form of workAmelius seeks a freelance or contract Womenswear Designer or Creative Director to lead a brand refresh project. While our headquarters is situated in Waterloo (Sydney), you'll enjoy the flexibility of remote work. This position is part-time, requiring 2 days per week during peak design, development, and shoot phases, and 1 day per week during other periods.
Reporting directly to our Director, you'll receive support from a dedicated full-time design coordinator. Comprehensive training will be provided by our transitioning Head Designer, who is moving into a senior role within the company.
The role's scope is adaptable based on the candidate, and we highly appreciate individuals willing to contribute across various business functions. While technical skills are preferred, we're open to providing training to the right candidate.
Key responsibilities, subject to adjustment based on the candidate's strengths, include:
- Researching current trends and sources of inspiration
- Creating design boards and range plans
- Producing CAD or hand sketches
- Handing over to design coordinator to finalize tech packs
- Overseeing print design selections
- Ensuring adherence to development schedules and meeting deadlines for photoshoots and range launches
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in design for an established womenswear label
- Proficiency in the technical aspects of garment production, including fabric selection, construction techniques, and fitting
- Strong aesthetic sensibility
