The Role: This is a 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extensionAs a Senior WordPress Developer at OES, you will be responsible for designing and implementing fast, efficient, and scalable WordPress themes and plugins. You will play a critical role in the full development cycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring high performance and responsiveness of our WordPress sites.In this role, the Senior WordPress Developer will:
- Develop and maintain advanced WordPress themes and plugins from scratch, ensuring they comply with the latest coding standards and practices.
- Optimise WordPress sites for speed and performance, implementing caching and CDN solutions when necessary.
- Collaborate with the design team to translate visual concepts into functional online experiences.
- Conduct code reviews and unit testing to ensure the reliability and maintainability of the codebase.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in WordPress development, coding standards, security and web technologies.
- Recommend and support 3rd party plugins.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
- Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3/Sass.
- Experience with WordPress theme and plugin development.
- Deep understanding of WordPress core software and its functions at the code level.
- Experience with RESTful API and GraphQL integration.
- Familiarity with front-end build tools like Webpack, Gulp, or Grunt.
- Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Knowledge of AWS services.
- Understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that applications adhere to them.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and designing for compliance.
- AWS Cloud Platform for hosting, caching and performance for WordPress sites
- Coding patterns (MVC, MVVM etc)
- CI/CD (Jenkins or similar)

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a WordPress developer.
- Proven track record of developing high-quality, scalable, and responsive WordPress themes and plugins.

- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Experience in working in an agile environment.
