The Department of Health, led by the Director General, has been established as the System Manager responsible for the overall strategic direction, management, and performance of the Western Australian (WA) public health operating at arm’s length from health service delivery. We operate in a corporate environment, and do not deliver front line health services to the community.

WA Health consists of the Department of Health, eight Health Service Providers and employs approximately 43,000 dedicated staff who ensure the health wellbeing of the State’s population throughout the metropolitan, regional and remote areas of WA. The WA health system as a single health entity covers an area covering approximately 2.5 million square kilometres.

The Budget Strategy Unit (BSU) within the Purchasing and System Performance (PSP) Division of the department is establishing a pool of motivated and dynamic Senior Analysts and Senior Workforce Analysts.

The BSU manages the annual Budget process for WA Health, including development of submissions in close consultation with budget holders, financial analysis and updates to cost models and provision of budget and policy advice to budget holders. 

Your new role:

This is a Recruitment Pool for permanent full time, permanent part time, fixed term full time and fixed term part time appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. 

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic applicants to Senior Analyst and Senior Workforce Analyst positions within the Budget Strategy Unit.

The Senior Analyst takes an active role in coordinating and delivering analysis of financial, budgetary and expenditure information and/or business projections/trends in accordance with organisational requirements. In this role, you will prepare and present high-quality products, services and advice that is proactive, solution focused and responsive to customer needs.  You will work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to a range of business development projects associated with resource allocation, costing and financial sustainability.

The Senior Workforce Analyst provides timely and accurate reporting, modelling and analytics on health system workforce performance to health executive, government and the public. In this role, you will develop workforce models and labour costing information for the WA health system to meet System Manager requirements and to enable robust analysis of system corporate performance.

We currently have the following opportunities available for an immediate start:

  • One (1) permanent, full-time opportunity
  • One (1) fixed term, full-time opportunity for twelve (12) months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
