Senior/Intermediate Accountant

We are a business advisory and accountancy firm based in Newcastle.  We offer our clients a range of services which includes tax & compliance, bookkeeping, business advisory & SMSF.  We focus on helping small businesses keep on top of and get the most from their finances.  We are located close to Civic Park with Bus and Light rail stops within walking distance.  

About the role

We require a Senior/Intermediate Accountant to join our team.  Tasks include but not limited to:

• Assist with preparing tax returns, financial statements and other related tax obligations
• Prepare BAS/IAS
• Use Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB to keep client accounting records
• Maintain clients' asset register, adjusting journals & reconciliations
• Liaise with ATO to resolve clients' tax issues
• Prepare referenced work papers and adhering to checklists
• Work towards budgets/deadlines
• Manage daily workflow
• Provide great client service

In this role you will gain exposure across all client types and industry sectors.  When familiar with our procedures and standards, you will be given the opportunity to contact clients directly.

Qualifications/Experience

You suit this role if you have:

• minimum 2 years’ experience in public practice accounting
• commenced or recently completed your CA/CPA studies 
• high level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• competent written & verbal communication
• strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• reliable & self-motivated
