The City’s Community Development Directorate provides abroad range of facilities, services, projects, and events thatdirectly impact the daily lives of our 224,000 residents andvisitors.

The Directorate works to develop safe and vibrant places anddeliver services and facilities to support a community that ishealthy, welcoming, and thriving.

About the Position

This position provides comprehensive professional and innovativesupport the City’s sporting and community clubs, through thedevelopment and implementation of strategies and actions inresponse to Clubs immediate and future needs and is responsible forthe development of the City’s Public Health Plan

Key Responsibilities

The duties of the Service Lead Active Communities will includebut are not limited to:

  • Manages, coaches, mentors and drives a responsive team that is focused on achieving organisational visions and objectives, is team and customer focused and whereby behaviour reflects and exceeds organisational competencies.
  • Provides high level management support for conflict resolution, negotiation and critical decision and political response.
  • Main liaison with Clubs, Sports Field Users, State Sporting Associations, and other relevant agencies such as the Department of Sport and Recreation.
  • Coordinates relevant grant funding programs including the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), KidSport and other relevant club development initiatives.
  • Provides an annual review of team effectiveness in meeting Club expectations about service delivery and support, reserve allocation and utilisation and identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal, external, customers and industry influencers to ensure integration of key service unit activities, and effective use of resources through partnerships.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, high work ethic and organisational skills to successfully motivate others, provide effective coaching and mentoring support.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, risk management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to ensure efficient, professional response, project management and achievement of the position's objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated high level report writing, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Advanced skills using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and relevant software systems such as Microsoft Project Manager to prepare suitable correspondence, develop presentations and effective documentation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing service plans that integrate the strategic vision of the organisation including the sustainable allocation of capital and operational resources, effective monitoring, control, and annual review.
  • Considerable experience in proactive community engagement to ensure service alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Understanding of key relevant State Government policies, guidelines and planning documents to assist in providing appropriate and knowledgeable strategic planning direction.

This permanent full-time position is a Level 9A Inside WorkforceAgreement positions which attract a salary from $135,384.62 grosspro rata per annum plus superannuation.

To be eligible to work for us, you need to provide, orhave ability obtain a:

  • A copy of Australian driving licence
  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months)
  • Pre-Employment Medical and DAS clearance
  • The right to work in Australia.
