FLENDER in Australia has been growing rapidly. Due to an internal promotion, there is a Service Workshop Engineering Manager vacancy available in Rockhampton, QLD.
We are looking for a person who can connect with and lead our Service Technicians and Trades Assistants, always put safety first, has the good technical knowledge, knows how to make the service function perform effectively and efficiently, and is keen to grow with the business.
The tasks, including but not limited to are:
- All aspects of people management
- Champion safety-first approach in the workplace
- Supervise and support the leading hands in the execution of their duties
- Coordinate the workload within the workshop, scheduling of jobs
- Track and manage costs and hours on jobs
- Set and drive quality standards within the workshop
- Supervise all aspects of gearbox overhaul
- Supervise warehouse
- Final inspection of overhauled or project items prior to dispatch.
- Supervise overtime shifts as required
- Technical decision making
- Support Service Coordinator (technical/financial/customer service aspects), especially with complex engineering solutions
- Inspire a best practice mindset amongst the team
- Assist National Service Manager in developing processes and frameworks to support continuous business improvement
To be considered for this opportunity you will preferably have 3-5 years of experience managing overhaul, repair and new build projects in an industrial workshop environment, a background in Mechanical Trades/Mechanical Engineering, and experience in people management.
Skills required:
- Technical knowledge of Industrial and Wind gearboxes
- Industry experience
- Solid engineering/technical aptitude, ability to interpret engineering drawings, discuss engineering solutions, make technical decisions
- Ability to lead others
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Understanding and experience with the Industrial Mechanical Drives Industry Customers
- Ability to manage Workshop workload to strict deadlines
- Good understanding of workplace health, safety, and environment requirements
- Good knowledge of Word and Excel
- At least intermediate user IT skills and some experience with CRM
- Excellent communication skills
- Team-player
- Adaptability
- Mechanical trades certificate – advantageous
- Engineering degree - advantageous
- SAP knowledge - advantageous
