Quit Tasmania is a program of Cancer Council Tasmania, the leading cancer charity in Tasmania working hard to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians.
Smoking is the single greatest preventable cause of cancer, and with Tasmania having one of the highest smoking rates in Australia, our aim at Quit Tasmania is to eliminate the harms of smoking and vaping by preventing uptake and supporting all Tasmanians to quit for good.
Quit Tasmania’s core programs and services form a crucial part of Tasmania’s comprehensive approach to tobacco control including Quitline 13 7848, mass media campaigns, training and support to service providers, and advocacy.
We are on the look-out for a passionate and dynamic individual to join us as the Quit Services Coordinator, as we move to increase cessation support services for smoking and vaping.
About the role
As the Quit Services Coordinator you will lead a small, dedicated team in delivering high-quality, evidence-based smoking and vaping cessation support to all Tasmanians through the Tasmanian Quitline 13 7848, our telephone-based counselling service, with potential expansion to instant messaging and other service delivery channels.
In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of Quit Services, you will work to identify and implement strategies to increase knowledge of and access to our services while remaining connected to frontline service delivery by providing back-up service support.
Having qualifications and previous experience in counselling is a requirement of the role, preferably a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field. Proven leadership, collaboration, management and analytical skills are highly desirable.
Sound interesting?
It’s also an exciting time to be working in cessation support; new Federal regulations will see an increase in people wanting support to quit. With a focus on increasing reach and expansion of services, this is a great opportunity for the right person to contribute innovative, effective strategies to support people.
