About the Faculty of Health Sciences:
The Faculty of Health Sciences comprises three schools: Allied Health, Behavioural and Health Sciences, and Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine. There are currently approximately 14,000 students (EFTSL) and 530 (FTE) staff in the faculty under the disciplines: Occupational Therapy, speech pathology, social work, exercise science, exercise physiology, nutrition science, biomedical science, nursing, midwifery, paramedicine, physiotherapy, psychology and public health.The faculty's current research priorities focus on Cardiovascular Disease and Metabolism, Health Services Research, Nutrition, Sports Performance and Rehabilitation, Psychology and Mental Health. About Occupational Therapy (Melbourne):
The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy program commenced in 2012 and is offered on three campuses: Melbourne, North Sydney and Brisbane. The program provides an educational experience that ensures graduates are competent and effective practitioners who meet contemporary Occupational Therapy practice standards and are eligible for entry into the Occupational Therapy profession. The ACU Mission is embedded within the program and promoted as part of defining ACU graduates as those who work towards social justice, recognise disadvantage, and engage with diverse and vulnerable communities to achieve occupational outcomes that support wellbeing. ACU graduate attributes which focus on respect for dignity and diversity, responsibility towards the common good, and ethical decision making are embedded in the program. High achieving students can apply to undertake an embedded Honours program in third and fourth year. Teaching is innovative and engaging and delivered by a national team with a strong commitment to the scholarship of learning and teaching. The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy has been fully accredited across all campuses by the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake duties associated with the Lecturer-in-Charge role, including weekly teaching team meetings, maintaining an online learning management system (canvas), developing and delivering tutorial content related to placement preparation, marking of student learning plans, managing a team of sessional markers.
- Prepare students for placement, including delivering tutorials.
- Assist with orientation of students to the professional practice setting and act as a professional role model to students.
- Work with the Victorian Professional Practice Coordinator to procure and allocate placements to students enrolled in the unit in a timely manner.
- Liaise with health care facility staff regarding student clinical learning and ensure appropriate learning opportunities are provided.
You will need to have:
- Current professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and eligible for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia Ltd.
- Recent practice experience as an occupational therapist Working knowledge of the Victorian professional practice context
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with proven problem-solving capacity.
