About the job...
We are seeking a Part-time Sexual Abuse Counsellor to join our caring, compassionate and friendly team until 30 September 2024.
Extension of employment contract beyond 30 September 2024 is subject to the continued successful Government funding of the program.
This role is an outreach therapy service and entails extensive travelling to attend client visits within the Beenleigh/Bayside and Gold Coast Regions.
About the service...
Sexual abuse counselling services (SACS) assist children and young people aged between 5 to 18 years of age who are subject to child protection statutory intervention and have been sexually abused or are engaging in sexualised or early sexual offending behaviour. Utilising trauma-focused and cognitive behavioural therapy, we help children and young people overcome their experiences from sexual abuse.
Our SACS team also offer parents and carer’s the support they need and work with children who display early problematic or sexually reactive behaviours. Using an outreach model, the SACS service is delivered to families at their homes, meeting rooms, and/or schools, where they feel most comfortable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a regular case load of individual clients by delivering an outreach therapy service to Beenleigh/Bayside & Gold Coast Regions
- Provide consistent and comprehensive approach to the assessment of the child or young person’s needs which considers the child or young person’s development stage and identified goals.
- Deliver comprehensive pre and post assessments.
- Identify and work toward client goals and achieve successful case outcomes for clients.
- Regularly attend and participate in specialist therapy peer case reviews, supervision and other case discussions as required.
About you...
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (psychology, social work, allied health).
- Professional registration and professional membership (if required).
- At least two years delivering cognitive behavioural therapy and/or trauma-focused counselling working with children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.
- Ability to engage and deliver strengths-based support and counselling methods to children and young people.
- A demonstrated understanding of current sexual abuse treatment including methods, trends and research evidence.
- Demonstrated experience delivering comprehensive sexual abuse counselling to children and young people.
- An understanding of the Queensland child protection system, legislation and policy reforms.

About the pay...
- Position is classified Level 6.1 - 6.3 under the SCHCADS award;
- Salary range is $96,970 - $101,251 plus superannuation (pro-rata for part-time);

- Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
