At Basketball Australia (BA) it is our vision that basketball will be the sport of choice for Australian families in the 21st century. As the governing body of basketball in Australia, we are a not-for-profit business who work collaboratively to grow the sport with our basketball Members, the eight State & Territory Basketball associations.
We proudly manage our elite national teams (Boomers & Opals, Rollers & Gliders plus men’s and women’s 3x3), our Centre of Excellence facility, elite competitions including, the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), major international FIBA events, national junior championships and as well as Australian basketball’s official junior game development program, Aussie Hoops.

What is the role
As we continue to grow our sport and our organisation, BA is investing in a new role, Financial Controller. This role is critical as we support our organisation with robust, proactive and integrated financial services and financial reporting that informs decision making.
The Financial Controller will lead the small team to plan, delivery and execute effective, accurate and timely financial services for the whole of BA.
Key focusses for the role will be developing and executing of financial reporting and analysis that effectively informs decision making, partnering with business leaders to achieve best budget management, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing standardised monthly reporting.

This is a full time role, based in our office in Melbourne at the State Basketball Centre, Wantirna. We offer flexible work arrangements, including hybrid working.

Who are You?
Experience required:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CA qualification preferred.
• Previous experience in mid-level similar role with experience in financial planning and analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge in Australian accounting standards and regulations,
• Experience with government funding processes is preferred.
• Experience with Calxa Budgeting and Reporting system preferred.
• Experience with Xero Accounting System preferred.
• Advanced MS Excel capability
You will also possess:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Growth and continuous improvement mindset.
• Be highly approachable for all stakeholders, allowing for open dialogue.
