Our Client:
Our client specializes in Sexual Violence intervention and prevention who provide services to women, of all ages who have been subjected to Sexual Violence at any time in their lives. Their vision is to create a safe community free from sexual, domestic, and family violence and are looking for a Sexual Violence Counsellor to join their team.
About the Role:
The role will require you to work with individuals on a counselling basis to support and advocate for women and children who are in unsafe situations and are or have experience Sexual Violence, as well as working in group environments to provide quality support groups and community development.
This is a Part-time role working across a 4-day week for 32 hours.
To be successful in the role it is a requirement that you hold the following.
- Have completed a recognised degree in psychology, counselling, social work, or behavioural sciences.
- Minium 1-3 years’ experience within Sexual violence and/or trauma.
- Ability to articulate a comprehensive feminist analysis of Sexual Violence, an understanding of trauma and the effects of violence against women.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and show initiative whilst continuing to operate effectively as part of a team.
- General ability or ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of Queensland legislation pertaining to violence against women.
- Demonstrated possession of highly developed communication skills. This includes an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australians and people from other cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Current Blue Card and a clear Police Check.
