Quick overview of the role
The Shift Manager will supervise the operations of the Bar Production team working on the afternoon shift. The position will organise, delegate and distribute workload evenly and ensure performance levels of the team are maintained in a safe operating work environment.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinate the team to ensure work is distributed in accordance with production schedules
- Ensuring load planning is carried out to meet delivery times
- Ensure regular quality checks have been performed
- Ensure safe loading procedures and safe movement of vehicles and trailers
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching and address training needs
- Undertake investigations, reporting and recording of any workplace incidents
- Support the production team in continuous improvement of processes to improve efficiency and overall performance
- Promote a positive team focused culture
- Provide leadership and guidance to support business objectives, organisation values, and the objectives of the strategic plan
- Contribute to, monitor and manage departmental budget and cost savings
- Take a lead role in WHS initiatives to demonstrate safety as the company’s number one priority
- Seek improvements and innovation within the department
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the steel reinforcing industry.
- Strong leadership skills and someone who can think on their feet.
- Ability to contribute to, lead and motivate team members to achieve objectives.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Ability to ensure excellent attention to detail in a high-pressure environment
- Experienced in problem solving
- Positive and can-do attitude
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Drivers License
- Forklift license desirable
- Gantry crane experience
- First aid qualifications
