Site Accountant (Mds) | Rpo

We are seeking applications for an experienced Site Accountant to join our site-based team at The Meteor Downs South (MDS) Mine. This highly progressive role presents an exciting opportunity to take on a rewarding and challenging position with a team focused on delivering results. 

As the Senior Site Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring that all commercial transactions are compliant and ethical while being run effectively & efficiently. Moreover, this position will be required to work closely with the Senior Management team to provide financial guidance on changes within the operation to ensure ongoing cost-effective operations.

This role is aligned to a Monday-to-Friday roster and is offered on a residential basis. Flexible work arrangements, including 9-day Fortnight (5/2 4/3), are available.
  
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, your responsibilities will include:  

• Comprehensive cost analysis of mining operations to enable optimum efficiencies, including identifying key variances to budget and providing recommendations for improvement.
• Preparation of month-end accounts and management reports in accordance with corporate accounting policies and procedures.
• Provision of support to all departments to assist with day-to-day decision-making including analysis of operating costs and key performance indicators.
• Preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations
• Asset management including administering capital expenditure requests and capitalisation of completed projects.
• Ad hoc projects as required for example system upgrades and process improvements
• Working closely with the site management team and various stakeholders to prepare forecasts and annual budgets.  

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:

• Degree-qualified and CA/CPA Designation or equivalent
• Prior experience in a similar role, in a mining environment
• Exposure to activity-based costing processes would be advantageous
• Competence in using PRONTO or a similar ERP system
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence with stakeholders at all levels
• Highly developed and demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution and time management skills
• The ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality while acting with integrity and professionalism at all times.
