About the role
As a Skills Instructor – Forestry your primary responsibilities will involve delivery high quality instruction and assessment, developing innovative resources and assessment materials, and handling educational administration tasks associated with training delivery. You will provide students with a wide range of support and advice and equip them with the skills and knowledge required for their chosen course.
The scope of the Skills Instructor role covers a variety of responsibilities and activities within the sector, including:
- classroom based teaching;
- practical skills training in simulated workplace environments;
- engaging with students and their employers in the workplace;
- supporting students and employers with their workforce and career development needs;
- showcasing careers andassociated education pathways to community, schools, and industry.
Qualifications and experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or equivalent
- Industry qualifications (Basic Wildfire Awareness, Hazard Tree Identification, operate 4x4 Unsealed Roads, Trim & Cut Felled Trees, Falling and Forestry Machinery Tickets)
- Plant Accreditations: Harvester, Processor, Excavator, Skidder & Dozer
- Excellent working knowledge of occupational health and safety in the forest industry
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
Mandatory requirements
- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (no older than 12 months old)
- Current Driver’s Licence (some travel between campuses may be required)
