Job description

Mamamia is on the lookout for a Social Media Editor to join our best-in-class Social team.

But first, here's a bit about us.

Mamamia is Australia's largest women's company.

Our core purpose is to make the world a better place for women and girls. That's what guides everything we do. And, uh, we do a lot. Mamamia reaches seven million women each month across our written, video, audio, and social platforms and we have the largest women's podcast network in the world.

What we're looking for.

As the Social Media Editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our Social Media strategy across various platforms. Collaborating closely with the Editor in Chief, Editor, and Audience Editor, you'll craft and implement comprehensive plans, with a keen focus on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Monitoring performance metrics and employing social listening tools, you'll continuously refine strategies to optimise engagement, reach, and brand awareness. Your responsibilities will extend to content curation and creation, ensuring our social presence reflects our brand identity and resonates with our audience.

Acting as the brand custodian, you'll maintain consistent messaging and promptly address any feedback or crises that may arise. Additionally, you'll serve as a resource for team members and external stakeholders, sharing insights and best practices to drive innovation and success in our Social Media endeavours.

Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:

  • Develop and adjust Social Media strategy in collaboration with senior editorial team, focusing on key platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
  • Monitor and analyse performance metrics for Mamamia's brand and sub-brand channels, optimising strategies for better engagement and conversion rates.
  • Utilise social listening tools to inform content creation, identifying trends and conversations relevant to the brand.
  • Establish KPIs and benchmarks to measure Social Media success, providing regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Create engaging content across multiple platforms, maintaining brand voice and goals.
  • Manage social campaigns and promotions to support various company activities.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all Social Media platforms.
  • Handle comments, messages, and crises on Social Media promptly and professionally, fostering a positive community around the brand.

Now, a bit about you.

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in Social Media management, with a track record of implementing successful Social Media strategies, driving audience growth, and enhancing brand awareness.
  • Strong understanding of digital publishing principles, content optimization, and platform-specific best practices. Experience in leveraging Social Media platforms for audience engagement and growth.
  • Strong ability to create engaging and compelling content across various Social Media platforms.
  • Proficiency in copywriting, visual content creation, and storytelling to captivate and resonate with target audiences.
  • Experience in leading and managing a Social Media team, ability to delegate tasks, monitor performance, and drive team success.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative Social Media strategies aligned with business goals, target audience interests, and industry trends.
  • A team player who takes ownership of responsibilities, communicates effectively and gives and receives feedback with honesty, respect, curiosity, and openness.
  • Ability to prioritise the needs and perspectives of our audience and commercial partners in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt a measured approach and drive process improvement initiatives and solve problems creatively in a fast-paced environment.

Life at Mamamia.

We're fast-paced, innovative, and deeply collaborative. Mamamia feels small enough that you can create real and tangible change, but has the structure to support your ideas with experienced and industry-leading teams, and deliver them to an audience of millions of women every month.

We have a startup spirit within a scaled-up business structure and we're incredibly proud of the culture and community we've created. Our team is inclusive, passionate, and fun (..although apparently, not very modest about it); many lifelong friendships and connections have been forged in Mamamia HQ.

But enough about us, let's talk about how we can help you. At Mamamia, we want to support all of our staff in kicking as many career goals as possible so that's why we'll support you in getting involved in the things you're actually interested in. Think you might want to broaden your scope? Get exposure to another team in the business? Try something new and develop your skills? We'll help you make it happen and cheer you on the whole way.

On top of all that, Mamamia also offers:

  • Flexible working conditions
  • The opportunity to celebrate your birthday and ongoing dedication with additional leave days
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid volunteer leave to get involved with our charity partners
  • The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company and help us make the world a better place for women and girls.

One more thing!

Mamamia is an equal opportunity employer, all applicants will be considered regardless of your race, sexuality, religion, colour, gender identity, or parental status. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply. If you require any assistance, including a workplace adjustment to participate in the recruitment process please reach out to **@mamamia.com.au.
