About the opportunityThe Scholarships Portfolio Manager manages a team of student administration staff who work with the other Student Administration Services teams, the Portfolio's Heads, faculty administrative and academic staff across the University to develop, implement and continuously improve the portfolio's approach to scholarship administration operations and processes; ensuring they are effective and efficient, meet or exceed agreed service standards and are aligned to the University's strategic goals.The Manager is responsible for the overall operation and delivery of university-wide coursework scholarships and prizes. They will make a proactive contribution to the culture and goals of the portfolio and works collaboratively with all stakeholders at a variety of levels. They will ensure that approaches and relevant controls are in place to ensure compliant scholarship pre-award and post-award process that deliver a high-quality experience for the University community.Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • manage the overall daily delivery of administration activities within the scholarships teams
  • in conjunction with Head of Scholarships, and other student administration managers, review processes continually and make recommendations to adopt improvements
  • implement new processes and work plans as part of the project outcomes within Scholarships office
  • provide effective leadership, management guidance and support for staff in the team
  • manage and develop a high performing team, ensuring that appropriate staff management practices, resource plans, training and development, competency assessments
  • develop teamwork plans, establish, monitor and report on performance measures
  • initiate, develop and maintain professional relationships with faculty admin staff, academics and other internal stakeholders to enable effective negotiation, process improvement and issues resolution in the management of courses and unit of study related matters
About you:
  • demonstrated experience in developing and leading high performing teams and promoting a continuous improvement culture
  • demonstrated experience in managing stakeholder relationships in a complex and multi-faceted organisation with competing demands and priorities
  • experience interpreting and analysing organising legislative obligations, rules and procedural requirements, to ensure compliance while exercising sound judgment
  • experience producing high quality written information and presentations for a range of audiences and stakeholders
  • excellent operational planning skills, and proven project management and process improvement skills.
