Social Media Officer
Council is seeking to appoint a maximum term part time Social Media Officer to contribute to Council’s success.
This is a job share opportunity working 38 hours per fortnight, with a projected end date of February 2025. The work pattern will be one week on, one week off, Monday to Friday.

About the Role
The purpose of this position is to oversee and maintain Gladstone Regional Council’s Social Media presence and implement strategic Social Media strategies for Council’s activities, initiatives, events and facilities.
Your role will include:
- Develop and implement cost-effective and results led Social Media and digital marketing campaigns in line with relevant strategic plans, current marketing trends, timeframes and strict budgetary allowances.
- Monitor, measure and report on risks, trends, and engagement across social channels to inform future content and digital marketing initiatives.
- Build a consistent brand presence and personality for GRC’s Social Media channels.
- Respond to and address the community’s queries and complaints via Social Media efficiently, professionally and in a timely manner.
- Being present, pro-active and solutions-focused and recognise that the community is the core of our business.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in digital and/or Social Media marketing and/or demonstrated relevant experience knowledge and skills gained from working in a similar professional social and/or marketing role.
- Demonstrated understanding of the underlying principles of digital marketing, Social Media and trends including the ability to develop online acquisition and retention campaigns that result in lead conversions.
- Effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience writing engaging online copy which enhances community engagement and facilitates online product conversion.
- Proven experience in Social Media community management and responding to a high volume of online customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
- Must be eligible and willing to obtain on appointment, a positive notice Working with Children Blue Card.
- Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
