About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Social Work Senior to work in our Cancer Services team at Mater Hospital Brisbane. This role is being offered full-time, permanent role based at South Brisbane.
The successful applicant will be a skilled practitioner who ideally has extensive experience in delivery of Social Work services to patients and families in a hospital setting. Evidence of clinical leadership through leading quality improvement activities, undertaking service evaluation, provision of clinical supervision to staff and contributing to clinical education is also required.
Salary range: $60.01-$64.54 (HP4) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging
What you’ll be doing
You will deliver high level Social Work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice standards by:
- Independently manage a complex and varied caseload
- Apply independent clinical judgement with minimal supervision
- Provide services in Oncology and Palliative Care requiring clinical expertise
- Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers within Mater Adults Social Work team
- Contribute to the development of new and existing services, models of care, procedures and protocols
- Identify, initiate, plan and evaluate quality and service improvement activities
- Actively contribute to the research culture and collaborate on clinical research activities
- Provide clinical Social Work advice within professional and multidisciplinary teams and when liaising with patients, their families/carers and external agencies
- Significantly contribute to promoting a learning culture within the team through mentoring, clinical supervision and delivery of training
- Applying differential assessment methods to identify clinical risk appropriate to the client group
- Applying high level advocacy skills to address patient needs
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Have a degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Tertiary qualifications from overseas institutions will require evidence of assessment from AASW included with application for the application to be considered
- Post graduate qualifications in Social Work or related field, and/or AASW Accredited Mental Health Social Worker desirable
- Extensive experience in provision of Social Work services, ideally in a hospital and health setting
- Demonstrated high level clinical practice and independent clinical judgement in the delivery of Social Work assessment and interventions
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision making and address conflict with profession and multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers and other stakeholders
- Evidence of clinical leadership, mentorship and supervision within a Hospital Social Work team
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and evaluate quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
