This is an exciting opportunity to manage a team of highly committed Social Workers and to participate in the Social Work Department’s Leadership Team. The Social Work Department is committed to professional development, building a positive workplace/ learning culture and providing best practice care and support to children, young people and their families.
What you'll be doing
The primary focus of this position is to provide senior clinical leadership and team management within the Social Work Department. The role supports the mentoring and professional development of staff and carries a clinical caseload.
The Social Work Team Leader will provide a comprehensive and specialist Social Work service to children, young people and their families. This includes psychosocial assessments, specialist counselling including bereavement counselling, group work, psycho-education and advocacy.
 
The Social Work Team Leader plays a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure the clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both Social Workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally.
  1. Eligibility for Australian Association of Social Workers membership with significant post graduate experience in Social Work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
  2. Extensive specialist knowledge of the issues facing families in the relevant clinical area coupled with advanced skills in therapeutic counselling and casework in working with children and their families in the relevant specialty.
  3. Advance practice skills in a variety of Social Work interventions/modalities which include psychosocial assessment, counselling, group work and community engagement.
  4. Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, leading a team, education provision, service planning, the development of models of care, and leading and evaluating quality improvement activities.
  6. Ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders to optimise outcomes for children and their families.
  7. Participation in the after hours On Call Social Work Service.
  8. Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
