About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Social Worker who is hardworking, enthusiastic and passionate about working in the inpatient health setting.

This is a great opportunity to start your career in Social Work in an Inpatient setting. The successful candidate will benefit from working closely with the support of the experienced Social Work leadership team. There is also a wide range of professional and learning opportunities.

Your excellent communication skills will allow you to demonstrate good professional reasoning and sound judgement in decision making whilst considering implications and long-term patient impact.

You will be a true advocate for your patients and recognize the rights and needs of your clients to be free to make their own choices and decisions. You will be working with a complex case load of patients in the Medical Assessment Unit. You will be a confident social worker who thrives in a fast paced environment and have a strong, dynamic nature.

What You'll be Doing
Providing Social Work services to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position will also participate in professional development, clinical supervision, teaching, quality activities and other relevant departmental and administrative duties.

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges. Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

  • Demonstrated experience in a health related field and ability to provide a range of Social Work interventions
  • Demonstrated experience prioritising work and managing stressful situations
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal) and computer skills
  • Evidence of commitment to clinical supervision and professional learning
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within social work.
